altMBA

Personal transformation is at the heart of my 2017 resolutions. I started the 50 coffees project to meet and learn from others.

What can I do to leap at 45? And How?

While I was thinking about these questions, I saw the post my Misfit friend Clay Herbert about Seth Godin’s AltMBA on Facebook.

I am a big fan of Seth Godin. I have read most of his books. I read his blog regularly. I followed his skillshare online course on marketing. So, of course, I followed the link.

The altMBA program is explained as:

The altMBA prepares you to navigate the complex challenges of driving organizational change

  • Decision-making
  • Operating under ambiguity
  • Understanding worldviews
  • Risk-taking
  • Critical thinking
  • Storytelling
  • Marketing
  • Strategy
  • Driving innovation
  • Securing buy-in
  • Management
  • Making change happen

On his related blog post, Seth also describes the altMBA  as A new way to move forward:

Transformation is possible. It’s possible to become a doctor, a skilled musician, a designer of beautiful objects. it’s possible to be transformed into the kind of person who leads, who connects, who sees the world as it is. And it’s possible to become significantly better at making change happen.

I hesitated during the whole week-end. Evaluated the pros and the cons and I concluded I had no risk to apply. Admission is selective so I would probably get rejected.

I applied and was accepted for the July session… Wow.

I feel so excited and nervous as we are getting closer to the starting date, but thrilled by the upcoming challenge of the process and people I’ll meet.
